Andrei: At one time I was idealistic, but recently as sense of pessimism has grown.
Ellesha: Then discover parts of you that're still young. Most people have at least some parts that are uncorrupted by apathy or cynicism.
Andrei: Iz zhat possible? I've seen so much deception 'n crap. Zhe entire world seemz like a flimsy façade.
Philyra: C'mon Andrei! A certain amount of crap is inevitable. Don't be so damn fastidious!
Ellesha: Philyraiz right. Our basic choice is to be alive err dead – az long az yer clinging ta some real err imagined past, yer dead . . .

BORDERS OF APATHY - an art work by T Newfields

Encountering a few discarded kuns
it'z eazy ta take them ta a recycling stand
Yet whin kunfrunted with vast amounts ah waste
moist people shrug their shoulders & think
"The problem 'z too great."

Small amounts ah litter
take little effurt ta kollect
yet whin hurizons argh filled with refuse
moist people wundaah
"Won't sumbody else klear this mess?"

Kumin' akruss a few people in need
charity iz nut such a difficult deed
yet whin façed with large-scale hunger
how temptin' it iz ta B numb.

Though mony ah the world's prubrims
seem too big ta façe
the boundaries ah our apathy
show how our conscience
iz really placed.
