AMERICAN CORPORATE SLOGANS YOU'LL NEVER SEE Apple Computer: Unafraid of the Pit at Its Core. Coca-Cola: Pleasantly Poisoning The World, One Smile at a Time. Jim Beam: Offering Great Spirits (Until Thy Cup Runneth Dry) KFC: Ripping You Off, Bite by Greasy Bite. Lockheed: Locking Up Your Future! Mastercard: Masterfully Managing Mammon. Merk: Pumping Out More Pills Than You'll Ever Need. McDonalds: Mass-Marketing Death Between Each Bun. Monsanto: Mutating Life, Monetizing Extinction. Walmart: Rock-Bottom Prices with Sky-High Irresponsibility, Every Aisle, Every Day! Sam: (raising his eyebrows) Why rant against corporations? Isn’t this just noise—another angry list? Tim: Because at this point in history, the biggest criminals on this planet aren't individuals, but organizations. They now have more rights than private individuals and far less accountability. Kris: (impertinently) Well, why aren't more of them on the FBI's "Most Wanted List"? Terri: (laughing sardonically) Well . . . Maybe the FBI itself is a criminal organization? It certainly is not immune to political pressure. Power rarely get investigated without permission by a higher power. Tim: (launching into a boring rant) It seems most corporations are so obsessed with short-term profit that they are oblivious to the long-term harm they are causing on people, ecosystems, and the future of our planet itself. Terri: (pausing, sipping her coffee) I think several major offenders are not listed here. Tim: Of course not. The most skilled criminal organizations don’t show up on radar screens. They own them. ================================================================================= from _AmeriSong: Poetry, Art, & Dialogs about Amerika_ by T Newfields SUMMARY: A satirical critique exposing how powerful corporations, shielded by profit and politics, cause widespread harm while escaping accountability under the guise of legitimacy and branding.
