Anglosaurus Rex

Juanita:   (sniffing in disdain) Linguistic hypocrisy. Isn't this another hegemonic escapade?
Jack:   (scratching his head) Well, I dare say beneath the veneer of civilization all of us are beasts.

I'm a linguistic predator
prowling jungles of thought

Sneaking up on diminutive words
ready to catch nuances unsought

I love to tear apart words
& sink my teeth into fresh ideas

I relish clawing semantic critters
& exploring semiotic frontiers

Some call me a heartless beast;
they fail to see things right:

I merely promote lexical efficiency
in which only strong ideas survive

Detest me or love me –
either way is of no concern

The next time you enter a linguistic transaction
the more credit I earn.

Shu:  Maybe the author is cautioning us to look critically at conventional rhetoric. Obviously, this is a satire with a bite.
Ella:  Hmm. I find the way that the author identifies with the elite disturbing.
