HAND OF PROPHECY: A Meditation on Randomness

Tim:     Prophecy? Isn't that whole notion superstitious?

Satoru:  (nonchalantly) Not really. Doesn't it all boil down to statistical probabilities? Some outcomes seem certain, while others are more open to chance.

Liao:    We should also remember how black swans manifest. Given enough time, even small probabilities can seem almost certain.

Tim:     (sighing) Perhaps the only certainty seems to be constant change and transience.

Melissa: (yawning, then drinking some wine) This discussion is too abstract. My attention is fading – of that I'm certain!
