bumper to bumper
stuck in the heat
tail pipes grumble
as vendors hawk garlands
& tidbits to eat
solid gridlock
city designed for
boats and bullocks instead of
buses or automobiles
bicycles weave skillfully amidst
a shining mass of debris as pedestrians
acknowledge the metallic hulks
while chewing betel nut paste
as distant sirens peel
in the obsession to move faster
hardly anybody moves
on grated asphalt in summer
the miasmic mist of exhaust pipes
and thick, sticky heat
is all that moves
